OPPOSE THE AKAKA BILL
The Akaka Bill, H.R. 2314 Native Hawaiian Government Reorganization Act is in US committee and must not proceed to Washington lawmakers!
This act if given wings will segregate Kanaka Maoli from Hawai`i Nei into a system of government under the U.S. Federal occupation. In effect, it simply shifts state-run Office of Hawaiian Affairs into a tribal status removing the enity from "State of Hawaii" and placing a revamped "Government Enity" directly under U.S. federal laws of Native American Indian regulatory acts.
It steps around the principal issues of overthrow, occupation, Queen Lili`uokalani, Stolen Lands (Ceded Lands), restitution and reconciliation and the illegality of annexation and statehood.

Hawaii 1 : State 0
"We are students, houseless, veterans, working poor, environmentalists, disadvantaged and concerned community members. The anti-statehood rally was a pivotal success...
" We understand the acclaimed multi-ethnic make-up of the Kingdom of Hawai`i at the time of the overthrow. We see the royal council of non-Kanaka Maoli like John Young, an Englishman, who was a senior advisor to King Kamehameha I and Royal Governor of Hawai`i.
Throughout the monarchy non-Kanaka Maoli worked to initiate and maintain an internationally recognised Hawaiian nation ...

ANOTHER SIDE OF STATEHOOD

Dean Saranillio
A native son comes home to fill a void during statehood celebrations
by JOAN CONROW
Amid official preparations for a 50th anniversary of statehood celebration–including the lei-bedecked arrival of the USS Hawaii, a $2.5 billion nuclear submarine billed by the Honolulu Star-Bulletin as “7,700 tons of aloha”–a counter movement is offering a different narrative of how, and why, Hawaii became part of the Union.
One leading spokesman of this movement is Dean Saranillio. . .

Ua Mau Ea ke o ka ‘Aina i ka Pono
I am appalled at the findings as I look back 50 years when Hawaii’s statehood was orchestrated. Last week marked the 50th anniversary of the vote for statehood. The 1959 plebiscite makes the recent Iranian elections look democratic.
But knowing there has still been no apology to Queen Liliuokalani and her multi-ethnic nation, why would I be surprised?
Statehood is a fraud. Hawaii is a nation in distress. If U.S. patriots (many native Hawaiians included) think they can live with that and believe international reconciliation will never happen, then what’s the point of anything? The implications are enormous.
You can steal the words, you can steal the nation but the truth remains:
Ua Mau ke Ea o ka ʻAina i ka Pono.
